for Peter Yarrow

I work in an elementary school that adopted a program called "Operation Respect" This program teaches about bullies. Peter Yarrow, from the folk singing group, "Peter, Paul and Mary"nvented this program.
Yesterday and today he was to come to our school and talk about Operation Respect in word and song.
Unfortunately, he was unable to make it. However, his daughter Bethany Yarrow came for him. I wanted to still tell Peter Yarrow how much I loved the music of Peter, Paul, and Mary and also Peter, Paul and Mommy.
This is the card I created for him with Ranger's Color Wash inks and sent along with his beautiful, talented daughter.
I hope he finds this card as beautiful as I find his music.

Today I spent the afternoon with the high school art club.
It was a lot of fun! I brought various kinds of Ranger inks and products and we all played.
I love having other people play because inevitably, someone will do something in a new way.

It opens your mind to see things done in a new way. If you are struggling with "artist's block", get some friends over and play! Even friends who have never stamped before will give you ideas.
Or, get a new book.
I am reading "Collage Discovery Workshop" by Claudine Hellmuth. She is amazing and the techniques blow me away.

This girl is my FAVORITE stamp.

I have used her so many times! She has already been published four times. 100 Proof Press makes this excellent stamp and many many others.

I have permission from the owner to turn her into a tattoo. Now I just need to get up the courage to do it!

Keep reaching for what you want in life!

Fun Ranger Card

Tim Holtz has some great rubber stamps.
I love this retro car!

Make sure you check out the Adirondack Arylic Paint Dabbers. I used them to create this card.

They are fun, easy to use and the color vibrancy is amazing!

Ranger www.rangerink.com has these great Mini Misters. They are small spray bottles that can easily be filled with water, paint, ink, or even bleach. I love this card! I made it using Tim Holtz's Distress Ink refills-Tea Dye and Vinage Photo.

I sprayed several sheets of paper with varying amounts of the ink, and even misted torn cardboard. After I stamped the flower (Hero Arts) with Adirnondack Acyrlic Dabber paints- I even lightly misted them.

Enjoy!

Heidi's Rubber Stamp Journey

It's hard to believe it's been 5 years since I fell in love with rubber stamps. I was trying to make a simple "CONGRATULATIONS" card for a roommate who just got engaged. All I had left from some scrapbook materials was one sticker. I didn't want to use it because it was my last one. Stickers run out! Also, one mistake and the whole card is ruined.

About this time, I remembered some rubber stamps that my sister had shown me. A light came on. I realized rubber stamps never run out! You can reuse them one thousand, or even one million times! Imagine the ink colors, paper colors, textures, and sizes. Oh boy! I was hook hook hooked!

As I began, my first cards seemed to be to be a masterpiece. Now, I look back and think my early work is awful, but at the time it seemed like a masterpiece. I wonder what I'll think about my art in 10 years?!
Welcome to my blog. I would like to share my art, accomplishments and publications.
Maybe we'll find out together how my cards will look in ten years!
